I received the book on time and the book is like how they described. Nothing to complain about. Beat buying books on campus.

Amazon's got to remove a few irrelevant reviews-- several reviews about this fine book were instead about shipping, condition, etc. which should reflect on the seller, NOT the author or content! In the first edition, one review downgraded the book for highlighting, while another gave 5 stars because a class was cancelled! Is this the twilight zone?Descriptive Geometry is a mainstay of numerous sciences, from architecture to physics and of course 3D gaming. The pedagogy in this book is some of the best in ANY text-- with an outstanding pace of explanation, illustration and math. On top of that, the book INCLUDES the complete student "workbook" guide, instead of making it a separate purchase, which as you know sometimes can't be found after a few years.Even at the "old" price (caution, there also is a revised edition), the book is one of only a few that cover the entire field with nearly all applications as examples. However, MANY copies of both editions are available now at much lower prices, ours was under $10 and Prime eligible!There is one thing about this text that you won't find in ANY other text, and I've reviewed hundreds, from Riemann to projective geometry and everything in between. That is the fact that this author, unexpectedly and brilliantly, creates a THEME of point of view, then carries it forward into ALL the applications of DG! This allows the student to see in an unprecedented clear way how techniques are similar and different as you change coordinate systems, problem definitions and solution methods. This shows she has a mind already oriented to the much more current "camera perspectives" than the dusty history of this field.For a decade or so, DG was relegated to math history, art and architecture, but with the advent of gaming, 3D and many new modeling applications from physics to astronomy, projecting between 2D and 3D and vice versa has become one of the most important fields of math today. The techniques in this book are the foundation of AutoCad, their Maya program, splines and perspectives, and both physics and displays in game programming. 3D movies and TV use these techniques, as does research in new LED display technologies.Finally, technical visualization is in its infancy, for example teaching math via animation. If you're an educator, and dedicated to keeping up with technology, you'll eventually run into projective and descriptive geometries as methods to translate your visuals to Kindle, powerpoint, etc. The tutorials of the future, whether on Kindle or YouTube, will have to take DG and PG into account when using, for example, Canvas and HTML5 instead of Flash. About the Author

Glenn Hubbard policymaker, professor, and researcher.

R.Glenn Hubbard is the Dean and Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics in the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University and Professor of Economics in Columbia’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. He is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and a director of Automatic Data Processing, Black Rock Closed-End Funds, Dex Media, Duke Realty, KKR Financial Corporation, and Ripplewood Holdings. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1983. From 2001–2003, he served as Chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and from 1991–1993, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department. Glenn Hubbard’s fields of specialization are public economics, financial markets and institutions, corporate finance, macroeconomics, industrial organization, and public policy. He is the author of more than 90 articles in leading journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Public Economics, Quarterly Journal of Economics, RAND Journal of Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and numerous private foundations.

Anthony Patrick O’Brien is a professor of economics at Lehigh University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1987. He has taught principles of economics for more than 15 years, in both large sections and small honors classes. He received the Lehigh University Award for Distinguished Teaching. He was formerly the director of the Diamond Center for Economic Education and was named a Dana Foundation Faculty Fellow and Lehigh Class of 1961 Professor of Economics. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University. Anthony O’Brien’s research has dealt with such issues as the evolution of the U.S. automobile industry, the sources of U.S. economic competitiveness, the development of U.S. trade policy, the causes of the Great Depression, and the causes of black–white income differences. His research has been published in leading journals, including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Industrial Relations, and the Journal of Economic History. His research has been supported by grants from government agencies and private foundations. About the Author

Rudolf Holze studied chemistry at the University of Bonn, Germany. He received his PhD for his work on components for electrochemical energy converting and storage systems. After that he went to the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA and dedicated himself to investigating the structure and dynamics of electrochemical double layer using spectroscopical methods. In 1987 Holze moved to the University of Oldenburg, Germany where he became professor in physical chemistry in 1989. Currently Rudolf Holze is professor at the Technical University of Chemnitz, Germany where his research is focused on structure and dynamics at electrified interfaces with emphasis on the development of experimental methods and the application of out know-how on problems of technological importance. He is author of numerous publications and several books.

It's almost impossible to find a laboratory textbook in electrochemistry written after 1920, and since then so many things have changed you might need an emeritus chemist to traslate it for you (that's why I start by giving this book PLUS TWO STARS).Also, for general chemistry electrochemical experiments are pretty easy to find, but that's not the case with other basic courses like organic, inorganic and physical chemistry.In the case of physical chemistry Shoemaker (Experiments in Physical Chemistry), Matthews (Experimental Physical Chemistry) and Athawale (Experimental Physical Chemistry) include some classical nice experiments, but they're just not enough and most of them emphasize the basic science aspects alone.In this book Holze manages to squeeze laboratory experiments for elementary, basic and intermediate (PLUS ONE STAR) electrochemistry, electroanalysis and electrosynthesis (PLUS TWO STARS) and in some of them also includes the applied science aspect of the experiment like corrosion and batteries (PLUS ONE STAR). You should really take a look at the table of contents.The MINUS ONE STAR comes from the book's lack of equipment diagrams and detailed instructions. It's more a guide for the instructors than a real laboratory textbook. Also, the book leaves behind all the possibilities of amalgam electrodes (and yes, the environmental issue can be a problem if your ignorance ocludes you from keeping them in good conditions) and some other do-it-yourself systems (MINUS ONE STAR).NOTE: You will probably need to complement this book with Sawyer's (Electrochemistry for Chemists), and in the case you're interested in amalgams you can look in any old preparative inorganic chemistry book like Brauer's (Handbook of Preparative Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 1 and 2, Complete 2 Volume Set).

This is a great collection for anyone that wants to include electro chemistry in a high school or college. There is enough information for a person knowledgeable in chemistry to do any of the experiments. Not all of the details are in this book but it makes up for it by a wide coverage of topics. With the price of open source potentiostats coming down to under $100 (WheeStat and others) this open a wide collection to students. Even if you only have access to a simple volt meter there are interesting experiments that you can do with your students. Highly recommended.

This is supposed to be only a lab text, but if you were to follow its experiments and preferably perform them in the lab, you wouldn't need a classroom text. Very thorough coverage of most aspects of electrochemistry.

The number of errors in this book is ridiculous!!! I bought it to brush up on my basic math skills after taking 5 years off from school. I wasted countless hours reworking the same problems and doubting my own abilities because I kept failing to come up with the same solutions as the book. I cannot believe so many people found this book helpful!

The symbolized math equations and expressions are represented as pixelated images rather than some True Type font. The regular text is True Type and is easy to read. THE EQUATIONS ARE NOT.I even installed Kindle for desktop and used magnification-- still very unclear.Further, it appears returns or exchanges are not available for digital downloads.

I was very disappointed with the Sixth edition of calculus. The book has numerous errors. One might argue that in determining if something is really an error one has to work through the problem and might learn more deeply, but this goes beyond the occasional error. One section is riddled with errors. I found this odd since in mathematics a misplaced negative sign can lead to a complete wrong answer. And in one section even the calculations are incorrect. I must add that I did not find this level of errors in the other Schaum reviews I have used. Seems like the proof reader was lack in this book.

The book was good for a math refresher but there are a bunch of little errors located throughout (at least one ever couple chapters I saw). The author would state an equation wrong (see screen shot below) like dy/dt=3sint when it should be dx/dt. It can make some problems difficult to follow. I'm not sure if these errors are exclusive to the digital copy or not.

This is the perfect complement to any recommended calculus book because of the amount of solved problems. As well, it has many proposed problems with results, so you can practice and verify your own results.

Bought the e-book because I need it for my assignments, however, there are no page numbers, so during class, if we are told to go to page x it is impossible to keep up. This would be acceptable in a novel but for a textbook, it is just stupid. Thanks, Amazon this book is worthless to me.

So this ebook has typos like the geometry ebook has, but this takes it further into wrong answer territory. Unless there are 2 answers (not likely) some of the answers for the supplementary questions in chapter 3 are wrong. Going back and checking my work with formulas given, my answer wasn't wrong. *shrug* This next post might not just be in the ebook, but elements of chapter five (parabola, etc) were only mentioned in passing. They were mentioned as part of a solution to a problem and not thoroughly explained at all.I'll come back to this after I've finished it, but for now I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has doubts about their calculus knowledge.

If you struggle with calculus then this will be your saving grace.

Alan Jacobson is the national bestselling author of several critically acclaimed novels.
